CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN
..It seems that the President's handlers did not expect John Kerry to end up as the Democratic nominee judging from their hasty response to make gay-marriage a central issue this coming elections. It is designed to strike at the core of what's wrong with John Kerry in the eyes of Republicans - a Massachusettes liberal who is out of step with reality. Although most Americans do not approve of same-sex marriage, they are still grappling with the complex issue and want it to play out in the courts. Karl Rove and company are gambling that the issue will give them a potent weapon against Democrats and also a distraction to the real problems involving the economy.
