WHAT GIVES?
..For almost two weeks Pope John Paul has been in and out of the hospital but you wouldn't notice it if you only read the Christian Science Monitor. There is nary a single space of news devoted to the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church in the paper. Even if there is an inherent doctrinal difference between Catholicism and The First Church of Christ, Scientist, isn't it the duty of media to report the news and significant events? What happened to the publisher's motto of "to injure no man, but to bless all mankind"? Isn't the Pope a victim of selective journalism for reasons of competing interests? If the Pope dies soon (God forbid), will the paper have the decency to report it? I wonder..
