CATHOLIC CHURCH HIERARCHY HAS SPOKEN 
.. A mixture of joy and disbelief greeted the election of a Benedict XVI as the new pope of the Catholic church. In an age when the church is faced with problems and challenges regarding its relevance in the modern world, the College of Cardinals chose a man who clearly is pessimistic about the future and looked to the past as a guiding post in terms of doctrine and orthodoxy.
