.. The business and government's incoherent economic policy and response to trade issues with China clearly show that the latter is a formidable economic and political power that must be treated carefully. From multilateral talks concerning North Korea, Russian and Iranian arms control to tensions in the Taiwanese strait, America needs the cooperation of the Chinese government. This is the main reason why the US will not do anything drastic any day soon about the issue of the yuan being pegged artificially against the dollar making it rise and fall with the green buck. The Bush administration's experts are hoping world trade will be self-correcting and will return to equilibrium. They will be proven wrong and by that time it will be too late.
