SUPREME INJUSTICE
.. Who says there is no politics in the Supreme Court? Justice Scalia could not have chosen a perfect time to display his displeasure over not being chosen Chief Justice by altogether snubbing the swearing-in of new Chief Justice John Roberts. Will Scalia stick to his strict constructionist past? Will he get back at conservatives and Pres. Bush by roiling the court on closely contested 5-4 decisions? It's a fascinating year ahead for political and judicial pundits alike. The greatest threat to the conservative agenda by way of the courts may well be Scalia himself, the religious right's champion ideologue and not the impending retirement of liberal justice Paul Stevens.
